| for those who often need to get data/files off their home systems or office systems ... or need to remotely access them ... blah blah blah ...
www.logmein.com
its simple and easy .... the software is installed at the system you want to remotely access ... and you can then access your computer from any system in the world which has a browser and the internet ... i tried it and liked it .... thought i'd let you all know its handy specially for university students who have the tendency to forget important files on their home desktops :P _________________ "The worst thing in life is attachment, it hurts when you lose it. | lol ultravnc actually looks FAR better ...
is the filesharing on ultravnc free? cuz the one on logmein isn't (only free trial for 1 month then you can control your desktop only) _________________ "The worst thing in life is attachment, it hurts when you lose it. | I use Total Commander to get access on uni server. It's a small tool, with all necessary functions. |

| hmm question for both of you ...
does total commander OR ultravnc need the software to be on the remote system? _________________ "The worst thing in life is attachment, it hurts when you lose it. The best thing in life is loneliness, it teaches you everything and when you lose it, you get everything."

| They all do the same thing; logmein is nicer in one aspect that you only need a browser to access the remote computer; and you don't have to worry about opening firewall ports etc...
All in all, I still prefer terminal service (ie: remote desktop) built in Windows 2003 though.
Yes, I use Windows 2003; not the lame XP and Vista. I'll probably switch to Windows7 when RC is out. |

Release Candidate ;-) (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Development_stage - Wiki has to every shit a entry ^^)
on-topic: yeah, Total Commander needs some adjustments, like opening the right ports and create a new network connection. I got the instructions from uni cause there are some steps needed to be taken. If you're Vista user I wouldn't advise you that programm in general.

...because not everyone is happy with things Microsoft gives us ;-) I'm not a Windows hater in general, but sometimes I prefer other things more cause they're faster/ more pow3r and whatever |
