| I searched and found that there are no topics about it, although I kinda remember we talked about it. Maybe I'm mistaken. If so, then sorry. xD Anyway, what do you think about it? It's in RC (Release Candidate) state right now and it will be released in September or so. The RC will last until July 2010 and from then on, if you don't upgrade, your computer will shut down every two hours. To see the difference between Vista and W7, have a look here: As you can see, W7 is definitely faster. I'm going to upgrade to it once it comes out, but only on my laptop for now (I have Vista on it). Will you upgrade as well? _________________ Arrogance is educated intelligence. |

| Yeah, but as far as I know, you can install W7 only on one partition of your computer and after it expires, you can switch back to your other OS. Didn't you saw how PCWizKid had installed both Vista and W7? You can do that too. _________________ Arrogance is educated intelligence. |

| The comparison between Vista and W7 on that high-end PC shows us what exactly? That W7 handles the memory better? Ok... what means that to me? I'm a low end PC user. I don't have a core 2 duo or a Phenom... I don't have 4 GB of RAM (did you paid attention that neither of the 2 recognized 4 GB?) and I don't have a GF 9XXX or a AMD 3XXX... Why are all the comparisons made for high end PCs only and not also for mid and low end PCs? ok... what is of interest for me are the following: - will there be drivers ready for every printer, scanner, modem, sound card when W7 goes live? That was the main reason why I dumped Vista from my PC on February 2008. - will it be more stable than XP? - will I have the possibility to minimize the UI to windows classic mode? (even if I had a high-end PC I would want to do that) - afaik you can use DX10 graphics with VISTA but the performance is lower than the DX9 graphics in XP... in the video was mentioned that W7 would handle the games the same way as Vista did so my question is: why should I change from XP to W7 regarding games? |

having more than one OS (like two or more Windows) is a waste of space for me.... the problem is tht Microsoft just might have a solution to the pirated versions of windows.... unless that service can be turned off easily |

| Ok so, since I wouldn't know to answer all of your questions, I would suggest you go and check here: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/products/home?os=nonwin7 Btw, I've read that Microsoft will distribute Vista only until January 2011 and that its support will be totally removed until April 2012. The date might change into something sooner if the sells for Vista will be lowered. Also, the support for Windows XP will end starting with 8 April 2014. So yeah, once W7 will be released, it will kinda start to take over. =) @Invo: I don't know about such programs since I was never interested in them. I always had two partitions. You can have a look, however. Anyway, I'm pretty used to reinstalling OS-es. My dad reinstalled his Windows at least 15 times already. XD All you need to do is get your bootable CD with your OS on it, put it in and when your computer starts loading, before it loads your OS, hit ESC or F8 to specify your boot options. And from there on, it should recognize your new OS and you should get well through the installation. ^^ _________________ Arrogance is educated intelligence. |

| You send me to the Microsoft page??? Of course that they will tell me that everything is better, faster, more stable than anything out there... It's like I want to compare a Nokia 5110 to the latest Ericsson and I go to Nokia to ask which one they recommend... of course they say that their product is better (at least if both fall on concrete from 10 feet chances are that the nokia 5110 survives). |

Microsoft released a program to check your system if it can support Windows 7. More about it in the video above. Also, watch it all 'cause at the end of the video it will show a small list with the games that are already able to run on W7 (it's not the full list).

| I'm currently using W7 build 7229 and works great so far... Ati already launched drivers for it, I managed to work around some drivers for my Audigy which works even better than on vista... and the rest was already found and installed by W7.
I had some problems at the start of installation cuz it did't saw my raid 0, but I found some good drivers.
So far it starts and shuts down faster than vista or xp, it load my Photoshop CS4 like XP did it might be faster I never test it. I burned dvds with no problem, used virtual drive with iso images and installed different programs like adobe master collection cs4 no problem here to. I did find cut and paste of multiple jpegs (around 7gb) quite fast.
It's kinda weird that pin to the taskbar thingy but quite useful sometimes.
So far I like it and if you have a highend system you should definitely give it a try. |

| I haven't switched yet, but if I will find the opportunity, I will switch from Vista to W7 on my laptop.
However, here is a Wiki article regarding the Windows 7 editions: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Windows_7_editions You will find there information about the Family packs too.
And now, here is a video presenting the Starter Edition of W7 (which is mostly made for netbooks, if anyone might be interested):

I will buy the professional 64Bit version (~120 in my country) when i have my new PC in a few month. this option is very handy ( available in professional & ultimate versions ) you can run old games&programms which arenīt working on w7. its like rightclick / run as / choose a OS for example 9d is not working on w7, i have to choose " run as XP SP3 " _________________ |
