Im building a new machine. I want it to ba a good for PvP and great for gaming overall. So i need a few advices about this build: is it too much, is it too little, what could be better and are all those things compatible. I mostly need advices about no. 4,5 & 8, rest are there mostly so u can see the price overall. Btw these prices are without taxes cuz im buying this on my company and i get a tax refund ,and i also get some additional discount on this price. So dont be cheap on me, prices are good for company and im thinking price could go up to 1000EUR if u have some good advices.

I need ur advices fast cuz i need this job to be over till end of week.

Thanks a lot in advance and sorry about mistakes i made!

PostSubject: Re: Advice about my build?   Mon Apr 21, 2008 2:41 pm

my advice....

switch..

The mobo with a MSI neo2 FR ...same chipset better cooling system and costs about the same maybe cheaper...many people's opinion that it's the best P35 chipset mobo...

The case...switch to recom backdraft...the one u posted has only one fan...this one comes with two or three from what i know and has improved structure for a better airflow

The RAM...a-data has some problems recently and i suggest you don't buy something from it's latest lots...you can switch to Mushkin 2 gb DDR 2 CL4-6400 800 Mhz frostbyte duall channel kitt(about40 euro)...or corsair dominator 2 gb ddr CL5 1066 mhz(about 60 euro)
...don't worry about conflicts with the mobo of neither of these two..

I suggest that u try to save a little more money and buy the new 9800Gx2...it's by far better than the 3870x2...

The power supply...the build up-posted doesn't require so much power...it'll use about ~500 W...but if you really want something above 600 W so u can be sure i suggest u try the corsair CMPSU-650TXEU...it costs around 120 euro back at my place...but i guess that you'll get it cheaper...it's very well rated and it's modular too which means that you could detach any unnecessary cable from it leaving u're case a little free for better airflow...

the rest it's ok from my point of view and what i posted here won't lead you to a budged higher than 900 euro i guess...if you need more specifications i'll be glad to help further...just post here :)

Later Edit: u can try to look at the prices of the new Q9450 penryn CPU back at ur place...if u can buy it within the budget it's better than the q6600

Few things:

1. The NVIDIA 9800GX2 is at least $100 USD (~20%) more than the ATI 3870X2 and only outperforms the ATI at resolution => 1900x1200 (HD). For lower resolutions, it's barely noticable (<5%) .

2. The Q9450 is also at least $100 USD (~35%) more than the Q6600 and is only about 5% faster

3. RAM is dirt cheap... pick the best you can get your hands on.

4. Q35 chipset is more stable than P35 (at similar price and performance)

Personally, I would go for single GPU card and save the money. Unless you have a monitor capable of displaying > 1920x1200 resolution, the X2 cards are a waste of money. The NVIDIA 8800 GT series perform on par with the X2 cards at 1280x1024 resolution.

the price varries form place to place...at my place the Q6600 is about 230 euro...and q9450 is around 250 maximum so i guessed that back in his country the price gaps are kinda the same:)...the same goes for the graphics:)

you are right...ram is dirt cheap...but you can't compare mushkin or dominators or team group or ballistix with kingstons or a-data or other :)

he said he has a budget of 1000 euro and i offered him something around that budget with nearly best performance...and again...i took as a guide the price gaps back in my country :P

indeed the 8800 GT was and still is the best buy for a graphics card with performances close to those of gtx or ultra at medium rezolutions...but if you want more than that i wouldn't go to something else than gx2...and today...a 21 inch display is something kinda common...

and another thing regarding the prices...the manufacturer has a big role too here...i mean...i wouldn't pay even 100 euro more for a BFG when i can buy a gigabyte or sth else only for a bit higher frequencies that can be obtained with an harmfull overclock...

P.S.you can try also the Gainward Bliss 8800 GT golden sample with 1gb DDR3

Well, I based my price on Intel's price list per 1000 lot. Unless your retailers are selling at a loss, I'm pretty sure they sell more than the Intel's price list for profit.

Go here for current Intel's price list. http://media.corporate-ir.net/media_files/irol/10/101302/April_20_08_pricelist.pdf

I verified the prices on a online shop...the q6600(on sale offer) is around 80$ cheaper than the q9450 :P

5.MB P35 with gigabyte X38-DS4 which is 175EUR (with taxes)
4. im still thinking about this one
intel core 2duo E8400 same price as Q6600
or

as i told u ingame...if you want the system mostly for gaming you can choose the e8500 over the quad core even if they're both based on the same 45 nm tech... the e series are more reliable in gaming and the quad cores are moslty for strong multitasking.... here u will find the exact proof for that and you can choose from many bencmarks on top of the page based on what u need...in the one that i posted u will see that the e 8200 is the third after the xtreme quads which are expensive like hell..about 800 euro :)
